Jon Aaron Tatum is in his first season as Assistant Coach at UAPB. Tatum joins the coaching staff after graduating from the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he earned his bachelors degree in Physical Education.
After one year at Northeast Mississippi Community College (NMCC) in Booneville, MS, Tatum transferred to Holmes Community College. From there, he chose to play his final two years at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, one of those years under the direction of current Head Baseball Coach Carlos James and Assistant Coach Marc MacMillan.
Prior to NMCC, Coach Tatum lettered four years at George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester, KY under Coach Larry Allison where he played on two District 40 Championship Teams and was named 40th District All-Tournament Team all four years.
While assisting with the day-to-day operations of the baseball office, Coach Tatum will oversee the catchers and on campus recruiting. In addition, he will assist Coach MacMillan with pitching plus the teams strength training and conditioning.
With a working knowledge of how Coach James and Coach MacMillan run a program, Coach Tatum brings much to the table for the Golden Lions. In addition, Coach Tatum also worked for the Arkansas Travelers AA affiliate for the Los Angeles Angels as their bullpen catcher. His experience working with professional coaches and players will be a valuable asset to both the coaching staff and players.
Tatum is currently working on his Masters in Addiction Studies at the UAPB.
