GP2MLB179 "Jason Lane was, as he put it, "all smiles" when he arrived at Veterans Stadium after a 5 1/2 hour flight from Fresno an hour before gametime on Thursday. According to Lane, Triple-A manager Chris Maloney pulled him from the Zephyrs game against Fresno in the sixth inning, much to Lane's surprise. "He said 'You're out of the game,'" Lane recalled. "I was kind of surprised. I said 'Why?' He said, 'You're going to the big leagues tomorrow.'"
10/1: "The Texas League player of the year offered a well-rounded offensive package along the lines of a Lance Berkman.. "It seemed like he was in the middle of every rally we had, and if he didnt have a big night at bat hed be the one making the game-saving catch," (manager Jackie) Moore said. "The games that mattered the most were the ones he was at his best in, and thats the sign of a true competitor."

After knocking in four runs in Monday's loss to the Wranglers, Lane staked the Express to a quick, 2-0 lead by cracking his league-leading 13th homer with one out and one on in the top of the first. A product of the University of Southern California, Lane also leads the circuit with 30 RBI, and earlier this season hit at least one homer in four straight games."
