"While Jacque Jones shut down the Aichi hitters, his right-field replacement, Jeff DaVanon, tore up Aichi pitchers.  DaVanon went 4-for-4 with three singles and a double.  He also scored three of the Goldpanners' four runs.   DaVanon set up most of the runs with his five steals.  But it wasn't like the Aichi pitchers weren't trying to slow him down.   After leading off the bottom of the first inning with a single, Jeff was held close by Tomohiko Yoshida -- who threw to first three straight times.  On Yoshida's fourth throw to first, DaVanon bolted for second base and beat the throw from first baseman Ryu Tsuchiya." PRESSBOX

  • 3/22/8: Released by San Diego

  • 6/29/7: DaVanon is back with the Oaks "I had some tools, but back then I was my own worst enemy," DaVanon said. "If I did anything wrong, I was too hard on myself and I let it affect my game. I was able to get over that, and everything kind of took off from there."

  • 2/8/6: D-Backs Reach Deal with DaVanon "DaVanon had a miserable second half last season, batting just .180 in 28 games after the All-Star break, but was bothered by a badly broken nose. He suffered the injury chasing down a drive in the gap in right-center field at Turner Field June 8 when he nearly made a spectacular catch with the ball bouncing off his fingertips, ricocheting off the wall and smashing back into his face. "

  • 2/8/6: Diamondbacks ink DaVanon "DaVanon has played in parts of six Major League seasons, all with the Angels. Jeff owns a .256 batting average with 28 home runs and 109 RBI in 402 games."

  • 8/25/4: Hit for cycle in run romp.

  • 3/1/4: Looking to stay in the majors this time around - DaVanon's 17 steals were second on the team to Adam Kennedy's 22 - Agreed to terms on a contract for the 2004 season

  • 11/18/3: Barely misses the arbitration cut "You never know what the Super-2 number is going to be exactly. Players work hard to get to a point where they reach arbitration eligibility. Jeff is a smart guy and he gets it. After I informed him, we talked about it a little bit and he said, 'OK, it's out of my control. I'll just go play hard next year.'"

  • 9/17/2: Recalled from Class-AAA Salt Lake to Anaheim (Moved from playing for Mesa Angels in August to MLB!)

  • 6/3/1: Recalled from Class AAA ; Sparkles in win  "This is the most fun I've ever had playing baseball," he said, thankful for second chances. "I can't come to the park early enough, and I never want to leave. I'm like a Little Leaguer going to the park every day."

  • 4/28/1: RBI triple lifts streaking Salt Lake

  • 4/12/1: Jeff DaVanon (92-94) batting .481 (13-for-27) for AAA Salt Lake (Anaheim)
